Product counterfeiting, fraud and copyright piracy are serious, highly-organized crimes that put consumers at risk and are often linked to terrorism, trafficking and other criminal activities. Our nation’s law enforcement and customs agencies are safety partners who can play a lead role in preventing counterfeit crime.

This training session will educate law enforcement on:
◆ Tips and techniques: how to identify authentic versus counterfeit products so officers can confidently assess suspected counterfeits.
◆ Product samples: view a variety of counterfeit and authentic products, ranging from electronics, firearms, sports equipment, electrical equipment, pharmaceuticals, automotive parts, sunglasses, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), DVDs, apparel & luxury goods and other items.
◆ Case studies: examine criminal investigations and explore the important role law enforcement and customs play in preventing counterfeit crimes.
◆ Online market: navigate the world of online sales and understand the measures currently in place to protect Canadian online shoppers.

CACN members are asked to share counterfeit product samples and/or resource materials that can be showcased at this training session. Contact Karen Ewing
